Renovation

In the end of 2006 I bought from the family Sundsjö-Mjösjö 1:40 in the northern part of Sweden, just outside of Östersund. This is an old farm (not active as a farm since many years ago) where I spent most summers when I was growing up. As such, it has a special place in my heart, and the heart of everyone in the family.

The buildings, especially the main building, needs some significant renovations before I could live there for any extended period of time. This renovation is taking a significant amount of my time in the summers these years.

During the summer of 2007, this was done on the house:

  • Replaced the roof of the tractor garage (many thanks to everyone who helped out!)
  • Emergency repairs of the other roofs (again, many thanks!)
  • Replacement of the sill in the old bathroom and front of the house (thanks to Otto for helping out)
  • Installation of new pipes for drain and water
  • Removal of old fixed installations in the kitchen
  • Preparing for running new sewer-pipes into the kitchen
  • Installation of device to attempt to dry out the cellar
  • Securing the staircase with new crossbeams

For the summer of 2008, most of the activities will be focused on fixing the new floor in front of the house and the bathroom, completing the installation of the sewer-pipes in the bottom floor, and most important, replacing the roof.

Below, you will find pictures from the summer of 2007, the first ones taken before the renovation started, and then progressing through the summer.
