Free Tibet

I'm a strong believer in a Free Tibet, meaning that the area formerly controlled through the first half of the 20th century by the government of the Dalai Lama (predominantly U-Tsang and parts of Kham), should form a sovereign democratic country, completely separate from the PRC. At least, the area should be a true autonomous region, with complete freedom of religion. These, I think, are two demands, that can easily and with good cause, be demanded of the PRC.

However, recent events show that the the cultural differences between the two countries are so significant that it may be impossible for Tibet to ever form an autonomous region within the PRC. This does not mean that such a solution should not be tried, but we need to be wary and aware that it may not, and the ultimate goal for Tibet should still be to form a sovereign country.
